Inspiration
One of the works that we read during the semester that truly changed my perspective on life was Ralph Waldo Emerson. I had read his essay self-reliance back when I was in high school but I just looked at it as being long and boring. This time when I read it I couldn't put the paper down. I believe it touches upon a lot of truths that my generation are not aware of. I find it intriguing how past works written long ago can still apply to the present. I guess trends do repeat themselves. I think it is important for us to read literature and see what the great minds wrote about because chances are that we can learn something to better our present living. I was extremely happy to revisit this work because I would have never done so on my own. I learned a lot more and appreciate it much more than when I was in high school. I loved it so much that most of the essay is highlighted. But it did speak to my life and I have already begun to apply it to my daily living. It is a timeless piece of art.
