Spring is in the air....Miller's Tale

Spring is in the air apparently in Miller's tale. First of all, I don't think I will ever look at the word "spring" the same way again. Who knew that is was all about "piercing the root of March" in the prologue. As for the tale, at first Allison struck me as the immoral player but after our in class discussion, I actually felt bad for her (somewhat). While it is wrong to not only cheat on your husband but to deceive him to the extent that she did, she did not deserve to be with someone whom she did not love. I believe that Chaucer in this tale and others presents a flip side to what society would view as moral and immoral. Reading his tales allows us to not see situations in just black and white as I have also viewed John in different ways...sympathetic yet stupid.
