Surprised

I'm surprised that once this book was discussed in class, how much Mrs. Dalloway/Clarissa's character appeals to me. To me, she represents all of us in the world who don't make that huge splash in history. She shows us that there is more behind the title. Like the professor said, you can think "housewife" but behind that, there are choices, experiences and emotions, and each one of them having an impact on someone else out there, even if it's just one person.

The fact that she stews over past choices is very... real to me. Its something I feel many of us would or will do in the future, especially after we begin making tough choices in our lives. I'll def go back and reread this book when I'm older... I'll probably have an even BIGGER appreciation for it!

I agree with you. Mrs. Dalloway does represent many people, and I think Woolf is trying to tell people something that I always thought myself. There will always be people who do so called "greater" things than other people. Someone will always be better than somebody else. What really matters is the impact you have on the people in your life. Not everyone will be able to touch the people unique to your life, so your contribution to their life means a lot and it's something we can all do. I found the idea of the book to be very moving
