Hamlet - What's behind the mask?
I find it interesting that Hamlet is seen as the "bad guy" in Elsinore. (according to the royal family) A tragedy has occured, the queen has quickly remarried and no one seems to object or suspect foul play. The only sane character seems to be Hamlet. Hamelt is living amongst liars and has no where to turn. All of a sudden the ghost of his father appears, he vows revenge and becomes crazy. Perhaps Shakespeare is showing us the irony of the situation. The innocent are guilty and the guilty are innocent.
Hamelt's rage is very hard to understand. He seems cowardly, but has a murderous facade. Hamlet might be teaching us that our outer facades will eventually reveal our inner motives, our innner faults. He might act crazy but he really doesn't have the courage to kill his uncle, so he waits and seeks proof.
