Poor Hamlet!!!!!!!!
After Thursday class, i went back and read the act 1, and i have to point out that i first did not understand much due to the difficulty of reading the text. After paying a closer attention ,in addition to the professor explanations i feel bad for the young Hamlet who had been betrayed by his own mother. It is painful to read the passage where his mother is asking him to get over his father death just after two month. In addition to that ,his confused uncle then, now his dad is asking him to stay with them instead of going back to school at Wittenberg.I t funny and at the same time scary the way him to stay with them.Do i have to recall of the old saying "keep your enemies closer " to predict that the king is trying to harm Hamlet?

I agree with you that Claudius is trying to keep Hamlet close to him as the saying goes "keep your enemies close." I feel horrible for Hamlet that he is being forced to get over his fathers death. His mother and uncle are pushing him to move on when he is clearly not ready emotionally. I think that they need to give him his mourning time.
Thanks for responding to my comment. You right this family is so messed up that Hamlet is living in his own world. All he does is agree with them and it is all about pleasing them.Remember the part where his mom was asking him to stay and live with them instead of leaving? I haven't started the Act 2 yet but something is not right.Since i have't read that the king has a son, therefore hamlet might be the direct successor to the trone. If the king fear for his place Hamlet has to go.
I agree it is messed up that they think he should just get over it. He msut be going insane when in his head he knows one thing is right while everyone else is telling him otherwise. Especially when what they are telling him is wrong.
