Hamlet

As bad as i feel for Hamlet himself, i am disappointed by the mother's attitude towards her son and dead husband. The way she treats Hamlet is disgusting frankly. How can any mother completely disregard her son's feelings towards his murdered father? She doesn't even seem have the capability to feel such emotions since she doesn't recognize their existence. She and Claudius are so far removed from reality that it is too unrealistic. They feel no sorrow or have any understanding of the situation that they have created, and are looking even more suspicious in everyone's eyes.

It is obvious that the queen had little to no love for Hamlet's father. My problem is, why not at least play it off rather than coming off as a selfish conniving bitch especially to your son. Why rush to marry his brother? Was this an act done on purpose to show that she did not care whatsoever or was she just caught up into herself so much that she did not realize she was torturing her son?

Even though Shakespeare does not describe her acts in a full content, only the conversations that she has with her son , I think the the queen did not just feel sorry about her husbands death, but she was the motive from the begining, because she seemed to have feelings for Hamlets brother to start with. As you mentioned, she married Hamlets uncle in less than two months, at that time, that was not accpetable at all,(even now modern days)in most of the cultures its not accpetable.Since Hamlet is young, both the uncle and the queen are trying to convey him that its ok that his father died and he has to move on. Hamlet apperntly is very smart and does not confront them direclty, so they wont be sespecious that he is informed by the ghost what really happened to his father!!

I share my opinion with the two of you. But place yourselves on the other side of the coin: What forced the Queen to marry the Hamlet's uncle? Was it love or the pressure to have a King next to her in order to manage the kingdom? What do you think?

I agree that the queen had no feelings for her late husband Hamlet. I don't understand how a mother can tell her son to stop thinking about his father when he just pasted away. Also it was wrong of Claudius to tell Hamlet to stop thinking of his father and to start thinking of him as his new father.
