Freud

The mind is such a crazy and amazing thing. It works in mysterious ways that we have yet to figure out. Freud was interested in finding out why Dora resorted to acting the way that she did. Even though Freud believed in repression which can manifest itself in an action I myself am not totally convinced that we repress things that are to painful for our memories to handle. I think that if you dont want to think about something then you simply dont have but I dont think that things get pushed aside unconsciously. Dora was a strange and complex character and Freud's analysis showed us what he thought was the reason for her actions.

You have a lot of faith in our minds. I think you are right. We, as humans have the ability to consciously not think about certain things. But it is not always easy and sometimes takes a lot of willpower. Sometimes though its better to figure out and work on something one wants to forget.

You both make interesting points. Human beings have the capacity to do so much that sometimes we take it for granted. And our minds are prove of all the things we can do if both we want and conditions permits us to do it.
