Great Expectations

After reading Great Expectations I think that it is important in life to follow your dreams no matter how impossible they may seem. Pip had a dream of becoming a gentleman and even though it was handed to him and required no effort on his part he still achieved it. Dreaming allows people to think about what might be and allows them to become more than they already are. I think that when someone does reach their goal it is important not to forget about the ones who helped you reach that goal as Pip did. He forgot about the people that loved him and looked down on them as if they werent good enough and I think that this was his biggest mistake and regret. In life I think it is healthy to want more for yourself or how else would anyone ever accomplish anything.

I agree with you. One of Pip's biggest mistakes was forgetting where he came from. Everyone has dreams and Pip accomplished his, even without all that money.

i agree with Pips mistake. He should have remembered where he came from and who helped become who he is. In life no matter how high any one of us become we can never forget where we came from and who helped us along the way. It is sad to see how Pip fails to show thankfullness.

Sometimes in order to find yourself, that is to figure out who you are and what you would like to become, you have to separate yourself from others. In Pip's case, I don't think that he 'forgot' about the people that cared about him. Deep down of Pip, I think he still cared about Joe and Magwitch all along. But in order to fulfill his and other people's expectation of becoming a gentleman, it was necessary for him to meet other people and experience a different life than the one he had as a child. After all, it is through experiencing different things in life that one learns one's mistakes and discovers one's identity.
