Wasteland

I found this poem to be very hard to understand. The fact that it keeps switching from speaker to speaker is so confusing. It also switched a lot from place to place and time to time. You can tell that the poem is going to be kind of dark from the beginning lines..." April is the cruellest month..."

Lorraine, I agree with you that the first line of the poem indicates that it is going to be dark. I also found it confusing how it wasnt a consistent poem but rather the speaker, place, and time were constantly being changed.

I agree that it was confusing. The line denotes the darkness that is within the poem for sure. I think it was cool how in class she said the line contrasts to Chaucer's 'April'
