importance of slavery

todays class was very inspiring, showing us the particlar methods of Douglass' writings which he uses to show us different examples of slavery and the slaveowners. the fact that people who are slaves are defined as less human is based on the particular though that people are defined as human. to be a slave is to be denied this, the pursuit of your own interest, the pursuit of your own good, and is allowing that other people define this for you. Dougless has a powerful way of defining this to us, showing us how inhumane it was to be considered a slave!

I also agree that Douglas made his point of showing how inhumane it was to be a slave very clearly. He gives specific examples and explains his reasoning. I think that it is horrible that those who were slaves were considered inhumane.

To bring such a complex subject that is often ingnored into such a light by giving different experniences is great. I think that slavery is something that should be forgotten with generations to come, because it was not just one generation of suffering but it was more than that. I also feel like Anita does, I think it is horrible that they were considred inhuman.
