Pip - Great Expectations

I cant help but feel bad for Pip. He had such a hard life ,growing up without parents. His grew up in an abused house with his sister who treats him bad. All he wants to do is be good enough for Estelle. He is ashamed of his family and of himself. He wants to better himself. Pip's character is not a rare one to find one. Many people in society feel the need to always try to impress and impress and impress. They are ashamed of who they are and where they came from. They try to hide their past and pretend they are someone else. People like Pip have to understand that everything does happen for a reason and that the sitaution that they are in is all supposed to happen and part of a greater plan. Every person is put into a life that is meant for them. They must learn how to accept that life and learn how to deal with it. Rich or poor they must accept their past and use it for the future. I feel bad for Pip because he is such a young boy and doesnt know how to accept his life. Instead he tries to hide from it and is ashamed of it.

Lorraine, I agree with you that there are many people like Pip in the real world. People have a tendency to think that they arent good enough for others and all they want to do is impress others in any way that they can. I think that people do need to accept the life that they are dealt and what comes along with it but there are times when making change and striving for more than what you are can make you a better person.

I absolutely agree with you Anita about "I think that people do need to accept the life that they are dealt and what comes along with it but there are times when making change and striving for more than what you are can make you a better person." But I think to make a change you really need first of all a great amount of willpower and an internal desire and passion for a change. Only impressing others without a desire to become a better person I think will not work.
