Pip
I really loved the idea the Professor brought up in class about Pip the other day. I agree with the idea that his running away from his past was completely negated when the convict came back into his life. As soon as Pip leaves his home to be a “gentleman”, he is eager to shed them from himself. We see this when he doesn’t show appreciation Joe and fails to visit him and his sister on multiple occasions. However, with all the running away he has tried to do, everything comes back to him with the sudden return of his convict. His reappearance forces Pip to remember his family and real home, something that he has been trying to keep as far away as from his as possible. It makes you realize that you can't change where you come from but only embrace it and better yourself by it.
