Narrative of Frederick Douglas...
I have encountered this book before and every time I read it, I find it hard to digest. The account of this story is so chillingly cold and calm. However it is an amazing piece of literature and I forced myself to read it in its entirety. I remain impressed with Douglass' command over a language he was denied is captivating. The prose and and delivery of his thoughts to paper is unparralled, even by todays standards.

I agree with you. There is no other book that I have read that tops this book. He defied all odds and came out on top!
