conformity

as we spoke in class, conformity has a huge impact on the individual, it can determine who they actually are and who they are striving to be like. conformity in America has always been at a high rate, from actions to materials, a lot of people want to be like each other and do the same thing. even when people want to stand out, that becomes the new trend and suddenly everyone wants to do the same. emerson says that conformity suppresses the role of individuality and that is 100% true, because by everyone trying to do what the other is doing, who is that actual person?
