Ophelia
To be perfectly honest, I never gave much thought to Ophelia before. In my classes we didn't focus on her and only took note of the fact that she commits suicide. After our discussion today and thinking about it more, I feel very sorry for her. She was an innocent character, used as a pawn by all of the people in her life. Some might see her as a ditz, but I rather see her as a weak, but innocent character. She is a more pitiful character than Gertrude, who was weak, but we couldn't feel sorry for her. Ophelia seemed like a child, and she was driven to madness as a result of the events around her. Nobody was truly fair to her, even those who claimed to care about her. And I still don't know if Hamlet was really lying about not loving her, because in other class discussions, we seemed to all agree that he was lying, and that he truly did love her, but he just said it.
