Great Expectations 2
In the discussion about how the title great expectations is so great I realized that the title wasn't just about Pi. I eman can't we say that Ms. Havisham's great expectations was that she would get married and because he didn't show, she was shattered by it. Sometimes our own expectations can be set too high and can break us. People need to have secondary or backup expectations so that we do not get destroyed if our primary dreams or hopes aren't fulfilled.

Im not so sure I agree with having two sets of expectations. This seems a little funny. For every expectation, we would have to think of another? Then isn't that not really our expectation rather another alternative that were willing to settle with?
I think we have to always strive to reach higher expectations but in a step by step fashion. Realizing that our expectation might not happen at a specific time or may be unreasonable is very important. It's always important though to have expectations that can improve our true selves. Expectations to become someone else or live someone else’s life are not real expectations. Thank you for insightful comment. Thought provoking!!
