Hamlet and Ophelia are both thought to be "mad" - What a match made in heaven. She should have just married him. Did Ophelia mention in her rambling something about tomorrow? The day that both Hamlet and Laertes were supposed to have their duel? Did she know in advance??
Laertes seemed too preoccupied with avenging his father's death to notice how sick his sister was. he should have been there for her through her sorrows. He was busy plotting Hamlet's death and therefore I do not feel sorry for him. He got what he deserved. He says "I am justly killed with mine own treachery."
Polonius, Gertrude and Claudius all paid the price for their mistakes. Even Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were punished for screwing over their friend. Were they not aware of the saying "What goes around comes around!"

I agree that karma is definitely prevalent in this play. I also agree that Laertes should have shown more concern for his sister. The idea of a family as a close knit unit apperently doesn't appeal to these people!
this is one hundred percent evident, because as in a domino effect, one bad deed leads to another, so when hamlet wants to avenge for his laertes wats to avenge for his fathers death, he misses the signs pointing to his own sisters suicide!
I never realized how perfectly the saying "what goes around comes around" fits into Hamlet. Analyzing the characters helps us gain greater insight into the depth of the characters; but the entire Hamlet also sheds light onto Shakespeare’s motives. A lot of the characters in Hamlet seem preoccupied with themselves and what’s best for their names and their future. So you are right, a lot of the tragedy in this play is due to the lack of sympathy displayed by Shakespeare's characters.
