Wordsworth & Nature.
It was a great poem to read. I was captured by the way Wordsworth describes his relationship with nature. I grew up in a farm in the Dominican Republic where my family raised animals and crops. When Wordsworth said "A worshipper of Nature" (Line 152), I was very much connected to it. I am glad that I was raised appreciating nature since I was little. Now that I have been in New York City for eight years, I am very disappointed by what we are doing to nature today. We have abused our planet so much that now days we are seeing the consequences of our actions with all our issues with global warming, the treatment of animals, limited resources, etc. Wordsworth reminded me of those good old days when my family and I used to sit around a fire at night and tell stories and watch the stars. It's a shame that it is no longer this way since even underdeveloped countries are on industrializing in every way possible in order to survive in the global market. I wonder what's going to happen in a matter of a few years ahead. Are we going forward or backwards? I'd leave that up to you to decide.

I felt the same way too!I grew up in in a farm in Kosovo where everything was about the nature! I feel conected to the poem, and as I read through, I create an image in my mind of the occurance. I agree on you points, about the polution and industrial world. I m glad that through Worldwarths poem I m able to somehow feel my childhood and the world where everything you did was interact with the nature. You played by the shore, you hided in the mountains, and you went and got drinking water in the mountian.
I am glad I'm not the only one who have had this experience with nature. I miss it a great deal!
I was born in NYC, but I agree with what you guys are saying. I live by the beach, and my mom appreciates nature, so despite the city atmosphere, I managed to cultivate a fondness for nature. I love taking walks and just looking at everything around me, sitting and feeling like I'm a part of the natural surroundings. It's good for thinking and being calm. It felt like Wordsworth said all the things that I have thought, that I couldn't put into words.
There IS that clashing set of thoughts... industrialize or keep the beauty of our Earth as is. I think there will probably never be an answer.
Even the parks dont feel that much like nature to me, there are too many people, there are restaurants in parks, boat rides, all these... synethic things that get in the way of the real beauty of nature.
I came to NYC when I was 5 so I dont remember much of the town I lived beforehand.
I definitely agree that in NYC nature is being abused. I live on a block where there are hardly any trees because they have to constantly be cutting down the trees. By people cutting down more and more trees on my block, it takes away from nature's beauty!!!
